Bio
Dr. Higginbotham joined the Columbia Equine Hospital team in 2025. Caitlyn grew up in Watkinsville, Georgia. She first attended riding camp at 8 years old, and has been hooked since, working and competing in Hunters, Jumpers, and Equitation throughout high school and college. She also competed on the IHSA team at University of Georgia, while earning her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a minor in Biology. She then attended UC Davis for vet school with a focus in equine medicine, and was able to participate in disaster response training and the rescue of a horse. After graduating, Dr. Higginbotham completed a one year rotating internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center, gaining experience in all facets of equine medicine.
Dr. Higginbotham is most interested in emergency and sports medicine, but enjoys many aspects of equine practice. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys hiking with her dogs Huckleberry and Scout and her cat Finch, riding horses, and anything outdoors.
