Bio

Dr. Melissa deWolfe is thrilled to be joining the Diablo View Vet Hospital family as a new veterinarian! She moved from Colorado, where she just graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Her path to veterinary medicine has been anything but typical. Melissa graduated from Haverford College in 2003 and then went straight to medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. While there, she joined the United States Air Force as part of the Health Professionals Scholarship Program.

After medical school, she moved to North Carolina, where she completed a 6-yr General Surgery residency and obtained her Master’s in Public Health. Upon graduation, she transitioned to active duty USAF, practicing general surgery. After separating from the military, she worked as a civilian general surgeon in Virginia, Alaska, and Oregon.

It was during the COVID epidemic that Dr. deWolfe realized she needed a change: her true calling was to take care of animals. She decided to apply to vet school, and the rest is history!

After graduating in May 2025, Dr. deWolfe relocated to California with her two cats (Lucy and Chechik) and her two dogs (Buddha and Rafa). She is excited to be in this beautiful state and be close to her family. She looks forward to further exploring the outdoors, enjoying the diverse cuisine, and experiencing cultural events. When Dr. deWolfe is not at work, she enjoys yoga, reading, hiking with her dogs, learning new things, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. deWolfe specializes in surgical procedures and has a strong interest in dermatology, endocrine and chronic disease management, and preventive wellness. She looks forward to developing a collaborative relationship with you and a compassionate and caring relationship with your pet(s).
