Bio
Hey, I’m Dr. Susan! I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, and studied Biotechnology (B.S.) and Integrative Genetics & Genomics (M.S.) in California at UC Davis prior to vet school. Initially, I planned to impact animals by studying their genomes to discover disease-causing variants, but I couldn’t imagine life without a daily dose of animals and decided to leave the lab with a Master’s degree in Integrative Genetics and Genomics upon acceptance to LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
I enjoy working with all animals but focus my veterinary career on small animals. Medically, I prefer wellness visits and management of chronic diseases, as well as nutrition, behavior, allergies, and dermatology.
My husband, our daughter and I live on a farm with 6 dogs, unknown number of cats, box turtle, bearded dragon, 9 chickens (more hatching soon), and 2 horses. We rescued all our animals except the chickens, who we raised from birth. We love to travel, relax by the pool, or sit around the fire. We also believe there are only two seasons in Louisiana – crawfish season and football season, Geaux Tigers!
One day I hope to open a rescue facility for senior pets and pets with chronic diseases (any species). I love the "underdog" and am passionate about making sure every pet has access to appropriate healthcare.
I can’t wait to meet you and your pet and help you with all of your veterinary needs!
