Bio
Dr. Theresa Sosby was born in Ohio but grew up moving and traveling frequently with her family. Always surrounded by animals of different species, she was drawn to an undergraduate degree in Ecological Biology from Western Carolina University. She graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout Vet school she volunteered with the Auburn University Raptor Center focusing on the rehabilitation and release of injured wild raptors. She also co-authored a textbook on avian anatomy.
Whether treating critical cases or supporting families with their pets’ everyday health, Dr. Sosby is committed to providing thorough, empathetic care. She takes pride in helping pet owners feel supported and informed, even during stressful situations. She is a member of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. She is also Fear Free Certified Practitioner. Her special interests are behavioral health, exotic and wildlife medicine, soft tissue surgery, wound management and compassionate end of life care
Dr Sosby enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering with Street Dog Coalition, and lecturing the next generation of Veterinary Technicains at Asheville Buncombe Community College. Outside of work, Dr. Sosby enjoys true crime podcasts, fantasy novels, hiking, aerial arts, crafting and exploring local breweries. She shares her home with a black lab mutt named Daisy, a three-legged Chihuahua named Frankie, an African bullfrog and Ball python.
