Bio
Dr. Timothy Menghini is originally from the UK. He earned degrees in Neuroscience (with distinction) and Veterinary Medicine & Surgery from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. During veterinary school, he gained early experience in soft tissue surgery and neurosurgery through externships at the University of Georgia, Colorado State University, and the Animal Medical Center in New York City. His academic achievements included the Boehringer Ingelheim Award for excellence in neurology/neurosurgery and recognition for the best final-year research project in his class of 160, which he later published.
Following graduation, Dr. Menghini became a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, then completed the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) and pursued advanced training in North America. He undertook a rotating internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College (University of Prince Edward Island, Canada), followed by a three-year surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he gained extensive experience in surgical oncology and advanced soft tissue procedures at one of the busiest oncology departments in the nation. He later returned to Edinburgh as a clinical faculty surgeon, training veterinary students and residents, and in recognition of his teaching excellence, he was awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Dr. Menghini has authored multiple publications on stem cell biology, oncology, and surgical techniques, including the first reported surgery for colonic myxosarcoma in a dog, and on using a novel technique for rectal tumors in dogs. His work has appeared in Stem Cell Reports, Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and other peer-reviewed journals.
He is a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is also a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Society for Surgical Oncology, Veterinary Endoscopy Society, AOVET, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Southern California Veterinary Medical Association. He has lectured at international conference level and regularly provides continuing education for veterinarians in Orange County.
His clinical interests include surgical oncology, minimally invasive (“keyhole”) surgery, and reconstructive procedures. Using his advanced training in laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, Dr. Menghini is committed to using the latest technology and evidence-based techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. Above all, he values clear communication with clients to support informed decision-making and improve quality of life for pets and their families.
